Green Comm Racing, the Italian/Spanish Challenger to the 34th America's Cup, announcestoday a partnership with USABound, based in San Anselmo (California), to support and coordinate the overall logistics of the Green Comm RacingTeam in the Bay Area. The goal of the partnership with USABound is to speed up the organization of the Green Comm Racing Team in the Bay Area: with a little more than oneyear to go, before the final phase of the America's Cup will be taking place in SanFrancisco, it is of critical importance to ramp up the team's operations.
USABound, with offices in San Anselmo, New York City and Verona (Italy), has providedlogding, transportation, meeting & event planning since 1979; as a long timemember of the VISIT USA committee Benedetto Cico, USABound's CEO, has promotedthe US as a travel destination in several European countries, and he is currentlyvery active with local agencies to make Marin County a key destination and partner for all of the America's Cup events. The partnership between Green Comm Racing and USABound is focused on a widerangeof supporting activities: (1) travel services, (2) long-term lodging for the teammembers, (3) corporate hospitality for the team corporate sponsors, (4) media andspecial events (5) relationship building with the multiple, local constituencies workingin the field of sustainability across the West Coast. Francesco De Leo, Green Comm Racing Executive Chairman, says: "Today is a key day for Green Comm Racing because we announce the first partnership with a corporation based in the Bay Area to accelerate the transition of the team operations to San Francisco, the venue of the 34th America's Cup. As a European team we are focused on building partnerships with multiple constituencies and key institutional players, to become part of the local community. I expect to have an office ready in San Francisco before the America's Cup World Series event taking place in Naples (April 7-15, 2012). San Francisco is a vibrant, dynamic community, a city that has been recognized as one of the top three in the world by PwC (2012). It's an inspiring, iconic venue, which exudes energy and commitment towards the values of sustainability that are the core value of the Green Comm Racing campaign. After graduating from the Ph.D. Program in Management at UCLA (Anderson School of Management), while serving as Managing Director of Telecom Italia, I revamped the Telecom Italia Ventures Office in Battery Street, teaming up with the leading venture capital firms across Silicon Valley.
There is no better place than San Francisco, not just as top destination site, as well as one of the best and most demanding sailing spots in the world, but as a multicultural, hi-tech community, focused on sustainability as a key driver of economic growth. The partnership with USABound is the first step towards building up our presence in the Bay Area: I plan to be in San Francisco more than a few times before April to work with our local partners towards establishing our operations. ACRM and ACEA have contributed to build the new America's Cup as one of the most impressive sport events in the World, and we look forward being in San Francisco, which is the best place in the world for world class sailing, hi-tech and innovation. The lasting contribution of the 34th America's Cup will go well beyond sailing, and it will inspire a new generation of innovators, at home across the Bay Area, capable to make a long-lasting contribution towards a more sustainable world."
"We are extremely excited by the opportunity to work with Green Comm Racing - says Benedetto Cico - as the team truly embraces values and goals very dear to Northern California. We can't wait to host their team and families, sponsors and fans."
